O.C.E.A.N NGO is a non-profit organization, founded by a group of people, coming from various educational backgrounds (such as engineering, exact sciences, psychology, arts, law, school teaching, special educators, economist, career counselling and guidance) and is focused on providing educational and counselling services to groups, institutions, organizations and individuals who are involved in the field of education throughout Greece, at a regional, national and international level, as well as on supporting and disseminating innovative activities in education (intercultural education, cultural awareness and expression, sustainable development, environmental and climate change education, lifelong learning, informal and non-formal education, mediation, vocational guidance, embodied learning, didactics of exact sciences etc.).
Regarding mediation and conflict management in schools, the organization conducts training sessions for primary and secondary education teachers at both local and national levels, through online seminars as well as in-person workshops. These seminars always have a hands-on, experiential approach and are also conducted in schools that are either already implementing a mediation program or are just beginning one.
Peer mediation requires the continuous training of teachers, which is exactly what our organization provides. In addition, we offer experiential training to the students themselves, teaching them how to navigate different behavioral responses with empathy, in order to become effective mediators.
Our volunteers, along with the organization’s coordinator, collaborate with schools to train both students and teachers within their school environment upon request.
